Whyteleafe Befriending

Connecting local friends

Whyteleafe Befriending is a local befriending service, connecting volunteers with local residents, to reduce social isolation and loneliness to improve mental wellbeing.

Working with Tandridge Voluntary Action, volunteers are trained to become befrienders.

Befrienders meet residents on a weekly basis for around an hour to provide social connection and potentially create life-long friendships. The role of a befriender is primarily social contact and they would not be expected to carry out any practical tasks.

There are currently 6 volunteers trained as befrienders within the Whyteleafe Community HUB.

Damien

“I’ve been a befriender for a number of years. It’s been wonderful connecting with someone in the community and she’s become like a member of our family. It’s hugely rewarding, and I would really encourage you to consider becoming a befriender”.
